Tops In Blue 1995 Premiers at Lackland AFB

"WTIB-Magic 95 FM" Takes to the Airwaves with a Variety of Hits

Tops In Blue kicked off it's 42nd year as the '95 cast, which includes TIB priors Pearle Glasco, Kahlil Walton, Antoine Wilson and tour director Tommy Mason , presented its premiere performance at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas on July 4th. This year's high-energy show is entitled "WTIB Magic 95 FM" and revolves around a radio station and features a variety of hits from all across the musical spectrum. The show begins with a recreation of a classic, 1940's style live radio broadcast with memorable songs like "Sing, Sing, Sing" and "Chattanooga Choo-Choo". The show then takes us off on a radio ride across the country with stops in Nashville, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and other cities highlighted with pop, rock, rap, smooth ballads, kickin' country, and even disco, featuring none other than the Village People! The show's finale is a commemoration of the end of World War 2, recalling the days when families gathered around the radio waiting to hear the good news from abroad. It also pays tribute to and recognizes the sacrifices of those who served, both on the home front and on the front lines. In all, it's another great evening of entertainment, Tops In Blue style! Don't miss this year's show - see it at a base near you!!!

Antoine Wilson - 26th Golden Roger Recipient

Tops In Blue Vet Gains AF Entertainment's Highest Award; Heads Out for 6th Tour

Upon completing his fifth Tops In Blue tour in 1994, Antoine Wilson became the 26th recipient of Air Force Entertainment's prestigious Golden Roger award. Now, as a testament to his dedication to the program, he's joined this year's cast for his sixth Tops In Blue tour! Antoine is best known as a comedian with Tops In Blue , but he has also served as a tour director. He toured in '84, '86, '88, '89 and '93. He performed in the USAF spectacular half-time show at Super Bowl XIX and on TIB's history-making tour of Central and Eastern Europe. Asked what Tops In Blue means to him, Antoine says "That's like asking what does my last name mean to me." He adds "I only hope I've given back as much as I've gained." By virtue of his receiving the Golden Roger, he's obviously given back quite a bit.

Blue Notes

Tops In Blue prior (Don) Lane McCray has made his mark in the music industry in Europe and is expanding his horizons in the U.S. Having teamed up with a sensuous female singer to form the duo "La Bouche", he has the #1 dance single in Europe and one of the hottest CD's on the charts. True to his Tops In Blue roots, Don stopped in at Tops In Blue '95 staging and spent several hours working with the vocalists. Another prior on hand at staging has been Ed "Slim" Jones (TIB '90 & '92) who is himself a hot property these days. Slim's recently done commercials for AT&T, MCI and promos for HBO and MTV. Word is he'll be joining Lane in Europe.

Backstage

In October, look for a tour update and information on next year's regionals. Also, I should have the story on Kevin and Jane McNulty's adventures in Israel. Next issue's "Where are they now?" will finally include yours truly and we'll have a lot more stuff, including an update on who we've located.
