Hey Blue Family,

As you we reflect on the service and sacrifice of our brothers and sisters in uniform around the world, some families are having a tough time. If you have suffered a loss as a result of war, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I wrote this song in memory of the courageous men and women that have vowed to keep our nation safe-some even with their own lives.

She looked so rested there
With her long brown hair flowing down
Sitting by the window in her inherited mahogany chair

She sat there in silence
When the footsteps came to her door
She closed her eyes-holding her breath
She knew what they were there for

"How much pain can one woman take?"
She thought to herself
Everyone I love so dear is gone
And I am sitting here alone

As she opened the door slowly
It also opened the door to her memories ...
So many summers on the lake
Watching the boys swinging from the rope in the water
At the alter with her late husband-the love of her life
three handsome boys- three reflections of her husband
Looking back when she looks in their eyes

On the day that her youngest son went off to war
So many nights she cried
So afraid it would fade the calm spirit about him that she loved so much

She saw their mouths moving- the men in uniform
She could not hear a single word
She could hardly breathe
There were so many questions in her heart on the floor
She raised up her chin and wiped so many tears sliding down

She stood in her virtue
Until the car was clear out of sight
She could not understand that peace she felt
Like she was resting between familiar shoulders

She lifted her head up to the sky
