Okay, so this little gem of an idea came to me taday after much thought and contemplation on how many priors I know personally who have gone on to professions in the music biz or entertainment "industry", as it were. It seemed to me such a great waste of talent and networking potential to not put up a thread designated particularly for those of us priors who are still strugglin' and strivin' and "fightin' the good fight" to "fame and fortune" Laughing in our chosen musical professions. Right yall? I say this because I know its really easy and tempting to just hang it up and pack it in when you have bills to pay, and the phone ain't ringin'! RIGHT YALL???? Amen??????

Thanks Blue! You all know who you are.... so don't be shy! This is your forum to brag, boast, show off, shine, and to show us watcha got and watcha can do for us! Even if its just some simple advice or a phone number for another prior or someone in the industry to send a tape to etc. This type of thing could quite literally MAKE someone's career! For REAL! It can and HAS happened in the past! So go ahead and throw out a line and see who bites! If they succeed, we all succeed! And besides....it FEELS GOOD to help out family!

So, in a word, anyone who is even remotely still involved (directly or indirectly) in the industry, would you PLEASE take a moment to post something here about yourselves, and what you are doing and have done, and how your talents, experience, wisdom, and network of contacts can be of use to any of us priors (past, present, and future) who may be looking to get back into the game, or to CONTINUE and ELEVATE their game to a new level! Some of us have been more blessed, fortunate, and just plain ol downright LUCKY Very Happy in our musical careers, and that is a GOOD THING for ALL OF US! Because we can all share the wisdom and "spread the joy", as it were, and help our fellow priors by "giving back" a little, and by truly making this board and this vast network of talent that has been continuously growing stronger and stronger over the last 50+ years something we can put to good use and rely on LOOOOOOOOONG after our individual TIB tours are over!

Remember, you don't have to be a "SUPERSTAR" MTV, Grammy award-winning, Billboard chartbuster who is signed with Sony etc. to post here! We all know that the REAL scene is much less glamorous out here on the "Chitlin' Circuit" (as Bernie Rone use ta say) and that many careers are also made in the background too (behind the scenes), doing production, songwriting, logistics, techie-stuff, teaching, mentoring, club gigging, weddings, parties, comedy, etc. and/or simply playing or singing in the choir, or for OUR OWN pleasure etc. One need not be a household name like an EM'nEM or a Britney Spears (PLEEEEASE!) to be a valuable commodity to your fellow Priors!

There are more of us in need out here than you may realize! And, few will be brave enough to step up on their own and directly ASK for our help when doors are closing left and right! And pride can be enemy of success. Especially when our standards are set so darn HIGH, and the pool of openings may be...shall we say...beneath our capabilities! And no one likes to hear the words "Sorry, but you appear to be OVERQUALIFIED for this position" from a potential employer!!!  Mad  Rolling Eyes  Evil or Very Mad PLEASE! Spare me!!!!

Yoda G.....out..... like those useless head-hunters, classified ads, garage grunge bands and the "Job Placement" (employment services) firms.  Cool Gotta go out and CREATE YOUR OWN demand and shape YOUR OWN DESTINY yall! Cause the "mainstream" stuff is mostly SHALLOW and DISPOSABLE! But everything comes full circle eventually! We need another Motown era, or another "British Invasion" type of rock or "pop" movement, or some totally NEW genre to stir things up a bit and get back to BASICS! Just my little opinion!

Only takes 2 mouse clicks to delete, so no problem so far.

Alternatively, the old board was recently getting spammed with online casino ads, so I had to shut it off.  No turning back now.

Thanks a Bunch Maj. Burch.

Gerry (AKA: Unofficial Deputy, Yoda G Wink  Cool )
P.S.
CASINO ADS you say????.......Doh!!!! Hate it when that happens! Musta been a disgruntled fan from the McGuire show who had to stand the whole show because '05 packed 'em in SO FULL that they actually ran out of seats!!!! NO LIE! And that was a HUGE hangar yall!!!! Laughing Shocked Surprised Let this be a lesson for ya '06.....enjoy the huge crowds on tour with TIB....cause what you see out here in the civilian world is a whole lotta top-shelf musicians  (especially the jazz cats) playin' teeny tiny whole-in-the-wall smokey jazz bars, clubs, and all and sundry assorted types of small to medium sized "venues". So unless you plan on hittin' the road down the line with Prince or The Stones et al......you may have to readjust your expectations if you ever make that transition into the jungle out here.Confused SurprisedShocked But fear not......sometimes a smaller but more appreciative audience is better than a large and impersonal one....for reasons which you shall soon discover! Say....on a Korean remote show vs a show at say Eglin or in the UK! Don't get me wrong....there is no feeling like a HUGE SCREAMING, CHEERING, and CLAPPING of audience to get the  juices flowing on stage etc. But it can be equally enjoyable to actually be able to make eye-contact with some of those folks in a smaller personal venue as well. You'll see and experience the entire gammut '06. So never take those smaller crowds for granted! They can be some of the best to play in front of! Trust me on that! They really REALLY appreciate your talents and efforts! Just wait till you hit the arctic tundra zone! Very Happy The ONLY thing cold there is the air OUTSIDE the show site!
