BACK IN BUSINESS!

Well after literally days of tinkering with CGI scripts and wanting to to pull my hair out because of some truly bizarre behavior on the part of the site's new servers, it looks like I finally got this thing back up. Sorry for taking so long.

Gooooooooooood mornin!!!!!!All my TIB kinfolk 'n (brethren!!!!...'n sistah soldiers too!(Supp mab Glo? Sorries for borrowin' yer line)

Hey bob,

Guess you've noticed I been out fer a while. Like ol' Martha S. 'n what not. Know we had a few sleepless nights here "back in the day" on this here TIB BB (keepin' ya on yer toes 'n all that), but I just wanted to say for posterity that its been "real" (well...kinda...) its been fun (4 REAL!)...but at times not real SAFE!! (CSN lyrics and Chief all over me like white on rice)...nuff said bro. (Know you caught some 2)LOL! Oh well, life goes on right?

NEway, I just wanna thank you (yeah, magine that!) for allowin' MOST of my thOUGHTS, ADDvice, WIZdumb, humOUR, crASS SOR-casim, etc (like 99.9% worth!) to make to the board (at least till the higher ups saw it! LOL).

Thanks bro! No herd (sic) feelins...hear? You did me right...in spite...! Let God be the judge. LOL. Thanks fer keepin' and checkin' on all the posers and non-de-plume imposters who like to cause trouble. I hope I never resembled that comment! Did not mean to. This here stick boy skin jock is Blue through 'n through (thas why I played on 2)...'n Iwoulda done 3 back ta back if they'd let me!LOL (C-130 ear & dame bramage or not! LOL)

Now then, where was I?...oh yeah...and lastly, but coitanly not leastly, the Inquisiton and the Counsel of Trent aint got NUTTIN' on you dawg!!!! Hear! LOL. You had a cleaner board than our '87 2nd string soundjocks on the 1st day of staging!!!LOL (AFTER all the cables were hooked up!!!!LOL

NEway, like I say, no herd feelins pal. You did us right fer a whole decade. And without gettin' paid ($) from U-Sam! Wow! How many K out-of-pocket??? Now that's what I call givin back! More to ya! Oughta be an after service voucher fer that type of service. I'm sure all of the TIB cudos you have and will continue to receive will make it all well worth the effort, and then some. Praise from your peers is always the BEST form of payment.

I think I'll end 'er on that (TIB) note. Long live freedom of speach!!! Its what makes America the great Nation that it is!!! And you just KNOW you could'nt escape without yet another famous quote Mr. M... so here it is:

"The quickest way undermine a nation is to take away its freedom of speech" ---Dr. B. Franklin (formerly a citizen of Boston, but escaped/fled to Philadelphia, where he now rests in peace for all eternity!)

As I am....kind Sir....your most humble obedient troublemaker/percussionist/Blueneck- Philosopher par excellance.....

P.S.
And to the NEW guy...whoever you B...make a SPEEEECIAL note of THIS ISP, cause you'll need to know down the line! Peace 'n love 2 all my Blue creative 'n outspoken kinfolk....you know who you r/b! LOL! Continue to "set new standards by EXCEEDING the limits".....just try yer best not pi-- too many people (off in the process!!! Luv u all....methinks! Okay.....yeah ALL.....life is tooo short to hold hate in yer heart! So I even love my Blue detractors.....whoever they b..BG! LOL
-----wordmeister/wavemaker extraordinare. Thas all folks...keepin' it real 4 yall!

P.P.S. Kerri, hang in girl, gimmie a hollar and I'll show you that for every "authority...there is always a higher authority". Don't sweat the small stuff...hear? E-mail me. And Chad, gimmie hollar too bro. I have plenty of friends out in "Tinsel Town" thrivin' in the music biz! L.A. can be brutal on us creative folk. Gotta have connections bro. Haven't you heard? "Success in Hollywood is relative....the closer the relative the bigger the success." Unfortunate, but true. I got some peeps out there in the music (percussion) world - we all STICK together (scuse the pun) together. Got to. The drum world is a lot like TIB! Hit me up and I'll give you some leads! I could send you some cash too, but if I show you WHERE to fish, you'll get more out of that than a tuna samich! Cup-o-noodles you say....yeah, been there, done that! Gotta pay dues bro. Don't give up. Do whatcha gotta do (take any work you can get!) and gradually you will make headway. But it takes time bro. L.A. is HUGE and unforgiving. Gotta be strong and be aggressive. Hi Blue:

Just wanted to ask for prayers for my family..I'm from New Orleans and I just found out today my cousin drowned from the flooding...My mom and my lil brother are stuck inside their home with no water or lights and little food..She also has housed two elderly citizens who have medical problems.

It's kind of messed up because I'm scheduled to deploy on Tuesday. I've called the Red Cross and they told me it can take up to 24 to 72 hours to get back to me. I'm trying to get in touch with the Coast Guard but no answer. I was on the phone for about an hour to be told to call back b/c I couldn't get through..

I haven't been able to get in touch with a lot of my family members so please send a few prayers for their safety and well being

My cousin is also missing her baby girl about 16 months old..So please pray that she finds her...

Thanks Blue

Dear Tonie D ('02),

Never met you but your plea for prayers HAS BEEN HEARD.....and help, love, and Blue support is on the way! Anybody out there from our vast team of priors and their extended TIB family staff and friends of the. program who is paying attention to what our Blue brothers and sisters and fellow Americans are dealing with down south, PLEASE GET IN GEAR and give Tonie D.('02) et al., some e-mails and some Blue love and support ASAP. Whatever they need...GIVE IT, OFFER IT, LEND IT, SHARE IT! Don't wait for them to ask any of us directly...hear? By then its too damn late! Act NOW and give our Blue peeps whatever assistance (material or spiritual) and moral support they may be in need of!

Never assume for a Minot minute that all our Bluefolk are always taken care of, cause we all fall on hard times sooner or later, and THAT'S when they need our TIB extended family the MOST. You all heard that plea above from Tonie D....this is one of US...so let's use this board and get them some help. NOW.

Forget about all the SMALL stuff that is happenin' in our lifes cause its NOTHING compared to what those common folk down in Nawlins are going through right now as I write this! And if TONIE D's post does not wake yall up to that, then maybe my post(s) will! That's my little contribution. IF one is in pain....we should ALL feel that pain! ITs much deeper than just TIB, you all know that, but we CAN help those who we KNOW and who are in our TIB family DIRECTLY now thanks to this board etc.

So let us use it to reach out to those who are part of US! Please do not wait for or assume that the Coast Guard etc. will handle the entire situation! There is NO WAY they can reach out and cheer up/console Tonie D and all the other Americans down there! Yall KNOW that! Get BUSY typin' and/or callin' our Blue kinfolk! NOW please!

You don't have to have toured with them to reach out and contact them. You don't even have to know them personally either. I don't know MOST of the folks on this board these days, and I toured twice. I'm an "old head" and most of my 80's old head peeps are too busy doin' god only knows what to post or to follow the board. Perhaps many don't even know it exists, or are not able for whatever reason to keep in touch with us. BUT...I DO KNOW that many of my Blue family DO indeed READ the board but do not often (if ever) post! And I'm now asking THEM to get busy with Tonie D, and offer whatever support he/she needs!Get to it!

Remember yall, that could be ANYONE OF US in need of support from any number of possible disaster scenarios that could happen anytime, ANYPLACE in this great country of ours! And this is not just about money or class, or race! This stuff is BIGGER than all of that! It could. And IS all of us down south! Don't wait for it to hit too close to home to act and lend a hand, or an ear, or a shoulder, or a few bucks, or a room, or a couch etc. We are fortunate up North! These are our fellow Americans and they would help us too if they could! And they DO! Just look how many join the Armed Forces from way down south!

I'm too sad and depressed to go on now. I said enough. Yall take over and get stuff done for our family down south. HEAR??? Don't let me (and them down). They need us now. This board is NOT just here for the good times (weddings, new babies, chit-chat, foolin' around etc.) Its ALSO herefor for those of us who need our help and support! RIGHT? That's what the Chief told ME last year! So let's just see how good it works "for those who rellly need it".

Tonie D...you have my best wishes and whatever clout I have upstairs. But I have more than just faith to offer you! I have other talents which can and I'm sure will bw of help to you.

And now you shall see! Go Blue. Get it done....please!

Thank you

Gerry (bbg)
86 & 87 os
Drummer/Loadmaster/Palletmeister

PS: like I've been tellin' yall all along..."Don't sweat the SMALL stuff cause there's always someone (like TD) who's got it a whole lot WORSE!!!! Right???? Be thankful, and mindful, and generous. They are all of US!!!!!!!

I want to apply/audition for the 2006 Tops in Blue--not sure if this is the place to request guidance from a prior in my area. I am relatively new to the Air Force Reserve--just finished phase 2 of my tech training as an Air Evac Medic of the 315th AES at Charleston AFB, SC (I live in Warner Robins, GA, where my father has worked for over 25 years). I have been singing all of my life, a God given talent I was blessed with, I suppose. I've sung with many bands in the Middle GA area, including a current member of the AF Reserve Band. I plan to submit an application package by the Oct 5th deadline, but I need help with the video portion. I'm somewhat technologically challenged and don't even own a camera/recorder, and I need guidance on how best to present myself in the 5-minute video audition. Thanks for any information.

Tonie,

In the spirit of TIB, why didn't you go to the outskirts of Newe Orleans with at least an inflatable water vehicle, proper gear (patch kit, first aid, carb foods, water) and protection (gun/ammunition) to withdraw your family from New Orleans?
Is there anyone involved with relief effort that reads this board that can help?

This is not meant to offend but I do not believe that my well-wishes are going to help anyone in that situation. Those people need bodies down in that area physically providing nourishment and means to a better place.

Just read your post. Are there ever the right words? I'm sure you're heart is in despair and you're pulling out every last ray of hope this moment. I'm sure of that because that is what I know of you from our tour. You are a caring and compassionate person that holds onto hope even when hope is out of sight. So, with that said, I know that you will see this through.
God is being spoken to for you and yours. I yelled @ you when you evacuated to Atlanta (and not my house) from the hurricane that hit Hurlburt. You know where I live now! So, no excuses for not calling if there is any way that I can assist!

Mercy and Grace to You.

Angie

It almost seems unimportant in the face of human tragedy such as this, but I did want to mention that I had the good fortune to see TIB 05 at Beale and Travis last weekend. They are in the early stages of the show, but it was already looking and sounding great. The show is quite a different concept from years past, definitely check it out when they come through your area. I had the unexpected pleasure of seeing Chief and Jeri, who were both doing well. And of course, AFKAS a.k.a Ed Jones! It was great to see the other priors as well, and I got to spend some time jamming with Paul Libby and Eddie Sherman. Though I must admit it did feel a little weird being in the front of the "priors line" at the end of the show... what's up with that?!? Gettin' old...

Hey just a little note, A thought that I had today

The goblet itself is merely a piece of metal formed and shaped with my name engraved in it. But the goblet is so much more, whether it is full or empty it is always full of the sweat, the blood, and the tears that my team shed on the road.

I just wanted to share that with people that understand

The next Worldwide Talent Contest (WWTC) will be 6-14 Nov 05, so the deadline for applications is 5 Oct 05. Previously the WWTCs were held in the spring, but they have been moved to the fall so the new TIB team can start and end in the same year, plus there are a lot of summer events that are easier to accommodate if the team already has a show. Here is a link to the official WWTC with all of the information that you need:

Short and sweet; Tonie I am from La as well and have family there (all fine). I am one of the lead engineer(AF)on providing comm for Kessler, New Orleans NAS, and other sites so I have military troops on the ground in the area and have passed on the list of names you provided. If anyone has specific names of people they are trying to find let me know and I will pass them on to onsite troops. I also can coordinate (on a limited basis) housing for displaced Blue members in the Montgomery Alabama area so let me know if you know of anyone here and I will put them on the short list to get aid faster.

Kevin...What type of technical "slot" are you interested in? Also, where are you stationed? I'll bet there's a tech somewhere in your neck of the woods. A lot of us are a bit in the background, but are more than willing to step up and help someone out (hmmmm....kind of like on tour -- "it's always the quiet one's you have to worry about"). If you are interested, let us know how to get in touch with you so we can go direct with you instead of boring all the performers with tech talk on the board :-).

Jim W -- Thought about you today...I was setting up for the "Grand Finale" of our summer concert series. We had 3 bands and about 1.5 bands worth of equipment (the new equipment is stuck in some type of parallel universe of AF Form 9 hell somewhere), but at least I had my Universal Audio T-Shirt on. BTW, how's your knowledge of live-sound mics? I'm in the market for some stuff.

However, I do know that by wearing a UA t-shirt you are destined for fame and fortune. I mean, just look at me! :)

Bob (my uncle) lived a full life and enjoyed everything he did. he worked for the post office and retired from there. during the korean war, he served in the navy. his wifes name is Synda. his kids are Brandon, Darren, Loren, and Rosemary.

Blue Rescue Greetings 2 all my TIB Kinfolk,

Firstly, I want to say how happy I am for Tony D that our Blue Cross Cyber Rescue effort was successful! Just goes to show you that we can never underestimate the power of communication (both the tool itself -ie the TIB BB, and those who choose to avail themselves of the technology to help out our fellow priors)

Secondly, it seems to me that we all owe a big thank you to our new webmeister/wizard Chris B. (or "CB-BB" perhaps)for his valiant efforts in getting our board up and running lickety-split JUST in the nic of time (pre-Katrina!). Can yall imagine how much harder it would have been for Tonie D if it had been down for say a week longer or so? Fate?????....perhaps, but I reckon it was a job well done! Chief and/ or Mr. Ed Jones, can you drop a letter in this guy's file cause he deserves it! Chris, "the check is in the mail" from me.....uhhhh the e-mail dude. Check your inbox bro!(LOL)

Thirdly, to the OTHER Tony (Barnett ) of '03 fame (driver/babysitter, LOL), my condolences to your family for their loss. Sounds like your uncle had a pretty good run! 82 you say aye? We should all be so lucky/fortunate! Right? Shucks, if he made it through Korea... and the Navy food (LOL)...plus all the barking dogs as a postal carrier, he really did beat the odds! Good for him! (If he was eating in AF chow halls he might have made it to 100! (LOL)

Speaking of making it to 100, just a brief story - to cheer-up the two Tonys (ies) - before I myself depart the board. I too have a Great-Uncle ("great" as in both ancient AND good!) who just turned 100 back in March of this year, and I attended his birthday party. Now sit down my son, and let me tell you about "miracles"!

He came over from Italy with my grandparents as a young boy back at the turn of the last century. He was a humble tailor by trade, but he was musically talented (as are MANY in my family) and played both violin and mandolin. And now he's Still playing mandolin like a century later!!!! In fact, I'm told that he is going to be in the next Guiness Book of Records as the world's oldest professional mandolin player!!! He has played in the famous Manieri Mandolin Orchestra for the last 50 years! And he STILL plays at concerts and at smaller gigs ie banquets etc. and at restaurants "strolling" around. Neat huh? No cane or walker or anything!!!! And his brain and memory is still in tune!!!!

So anyway, to make a really LOOOONG story (like a century long!) brief for the BB, I myself almost took a heart attack in - sheer AMAZEMENT - while watching him dancing around and spinning in circles with dozens of relatives and friends who took turns dancing with him. And there were many more less brave relatives watching from the sidelines also in amazement....jaws on the floor and shaking their heads laughing in disbelief! He had/has more energy than most of my kin HALF his age!!!! He's totally coherent and can converse with you about anything (in excellent English without even a trace of any accent!) So go figure! Neat huh? His vision is purdy good too, but you do have to speak up when you converse with him!

After dancing around for half an hour or so (LITERALLY!) he serenaded the crowd with music on the mandolin with several of his less senior bandmembers! What a treat/site/MIRACLE to behold!

Like I said, we should all be so lucky! Its the quality that counts though! God bless him, and your dearly departed uncle too! Although some of us pass through this world briefly, some (like my great uncle) remain for an encore/extended reunion "tour" to remind us of what IS possible, if we make good choices, have hope, love life, love music, smile a lot, joke a lot, and have faith in yourself, mankind, and the almighty one! And, of course a little luck doesn't hurt either! He was not particularly an athletic man (he is now only about 5' tall) but he is ALERT, SPRY, ANIMATED, QUICK-WITTED, HAPPY, ALWAYS SMILING, and UPRIGHT in stature....God bless him!!!!

Hope that little TRUE story cheers all my TIB kinfolk and their relatives who are reading and posting on our board. Especially all the TIB moms! Where would we be if it weren't for them? All the bad notes we hit when we were just little whipper-snapper musical wannabes!!!! Remember??? You better! Never forget. Age is mostly in the mind. We may all be getting older, BUT.....we don't have to ACT old! Let the Board keep us all young wnd our memories in tact. And let us take joy and pleasure in reading and watching our new Blue members grow and prosper!

Sorry to be so long-winded yall!

Blue luv and humor 4 ever!!!!!

10-4, Roger-that! Out like the Mayor of LA (Pray for him too yall!) He needs some right about now! Think about it! And above all...ALWAYS REMEMBER...."never sweat the small stuff!" Life is short. Even if we make it to our 80's or older.....its still too dawg-on short!

----Gerry 86 & 87os
Drummer/Palletmeister/C130-cargo-net Jock!

P.S. Oh yeah....I almost forgot....pray some for those K-9s left behind in LA too, they are starving down there weithout their masters! Gotta be tough! Count your blessings yall!

Hello BB!!

I hope all is well with you all. For those of you that have family and friends in the south, I pray that no harm was done to them or their belongings. I also pray for healing in case some were injured at anytime.

Well, the time for the WWTC is drwaing near and I find myself getting more excited about it everyday! I have been working very hard these last 6 months and I am ready to show the results.

I have a question: A friend of mine is PCSing around the time that the WWTC is going on. She wants to make a tape, but she is afraid to do so because if she gets called to come to Lackland, she may have to decline due to her PCS. She thinks that she won't be allowed to do any AF level contests if she has to decline. I told her that if it was mission related and not because of her personal reasons, they would allow her to try out again and not restrict her from the future contests. Can one of you please explain the policy a bit better than I can?? Thank you in advance!!

Well, that's all for now. TIB 05 wil be here in two weeks!! I cannot wait to see them all again!!

I am interested in getting some information. I auditioned and made it to WW in March. I am stationed at Spangdahlem Germany. I know that I am making the decision to audition a little late, but any advice would be helpful.

Hey everyone,

I just got back from Paraguay a couple days ago. It's ironic that the training I was recieving down there by helping out thousands of needy would become very useful in our current situation. My Guard unit is 1 of 7 that is fully qualified for EMEDS. I would volunteer at the drop of a hat to go down and help.

I had an amazing time in Paraguay and it was nice getting to stay in the same hotel for more than 2 days (wink wink) Our plane ended up getting stuck in Puerto Rico for 24 hours...that was rough (haha JK!!!)

Oh and I am officially a Staff Sergeant now too!

Hope everyone is doing well. If anyone ever needs anything don't hesitate to ask!

God Bless,
Erin

As you all know, it's been my plan to propose to my girlfriend, Julia, for over two months. Well, she said yes. Here's the entire story.

I always knew I would propose to my girlfriend as soon as I got back from Afghanistan. However, a small kink in the plan changed things up just a bit. After about two months in Afghanistan, I found out that someone told Julia that I was going to propose to her after I got back. For the sake of that individual, I'm not saying who told her. However, as you could imagine, I was pretty ticked off. In any case, I had to change gears just a bit. So, I told Julia that we wouldn't be able to get married this year because of "finances" (always a good excuse), and "circumstances beyond my control". She really didn't care what "circumstances beyond my control" meant because she was upset that I said we wouldn't be getting married this year.

About a month later, Julia finished her summer semester of college. So, it was time to really put my plan into play. I told Julia that "circumstances beyond my control" meant that my 4 month tour in Afghanistan has been extended to a 6 month tour. Of course it wasn't true. However, a 6 month tour would mean I wasn't coming back home until the middle of November. With the possibilities of me going away again in January, it would make things impossible to plan and have a wedding in 6 weeks. When I told her that, she wasn't only upset about not getting married, but she cried because I was going to be home two months later than expected. (I know I'm the bad guy, but it gets better).

So, her mind is really off getting married now. Now, that I've redeemed the ability to surprise her, it was time to get started on plans. I called her parents and asked permission. They said yes. I did research on rings and had one ordered over the phone with the a jeweler in the Orlando area. I scheduled a photo session at Glamour Shots to take our engagement pictures. Lastly, I got her roommate, Jamaica, in on the plan. I was scheduled to be home on the 7th of September. So, Jamaica and I setup a plan for Saturday, the 10th (the same day as our engagement photos). Jamaica told Julia that she had a photographer friend that is having a photo shoot at Rollins College in Orlando and needed some college age guys and girls to be in it. So, Julia agreed to do it and Jamaica said that Julia would be ready by 9:00am on the 10th.

Now, all the plans are in place and I get to Orlando on Thursday evening. Friday morning, I go to pick up the beautiful ring I worked over the phone with the jeweler. It has a total of 9 diamons. The center stone is a half-carat. On either side of that were quarter-carat stones and on either side of those stones were 3 small diamonds embedded into the ring. The ring itself is platinum and is etched with antique designes around the entire ring. It was gorgeous. However, things weren't what they seemed. Thank God I did my research on diamonds before I left Afghanistan. The center stone that I was supposed to get wasn't the one that was on the ring! You better believe that I went off on that jeweler! The fear of God came on that man when he realized that I knew what I was talking about. That diamond was not even close to being worthy. To make a long story short (I know...too late, right?), I told him that he better find me a diamond that was equivalent in value to the one that I was promised over the phone and that he had 4 hours to make it happen. The ring was fixed.

The next day, I get dressed in one of the eight awesome suits I had made in Afghanistan. She of course got all dressed up for her "photo shoot" and so the story begins. Jamaica calls me and tells me that Julia is ready. I'm outside in the parking lot of her apartment hiding away. I call Julia on my cell phone using my phone card so it looks like I'm still in Afghanistan. She's surprised to hear from me. As she walks out the door of her apartment (I can see her, but she couldn't see me), I tell her that I need to talk to her about something serious. She says okay and asks what's up. I then proceed to tell her that I don't think we should be girlfriend and boyfriend anymore! OOOOOOHHHHHHH!!! I'm really the bad guy now, huh? Trust me, I knew what I was doing...it gets better. So, I continue to tell her all these truthful statements. I told her that I don't want to be girlfriend and boyfriend anymore. I told her that we haven't been having many converstations in the past couple of weeks and I don't like the direction our relationship is going. I then said that I don't think that we can continue in the fashion that we are. Then I said that she's sometimes a little hard to deal with! You guys are probably wondering where I'm going with all this, right? Well, saying that she was hard to deal with was my transition statement. I then proceeded to tell her this word for word:

"Regardless of how difficult things may be or get for us....

I will always bear pain and trials with you without complaint. I will always remain steadfast through those trials with you despite opposition, difficulty or adversity. I will have a sympathetic, helpful and forbearing nature towards you. I will never be vigilant in guarding my own possessions. Instead, I will be vigilant in guarding you. I will never act in pride. However, I will take pride in caring for you. I will never demand my own way. Instead, I will always consider your feelings and desires. I will not easily be exasperated, excited, or made to be upset with you, nor will I remember the times that you might have wronged me. Instead, I will always be forgiving. I will never be happy about any act that involves unfairness to you or a viaolation of your rights. Instead, I will seek the truth out on your behalf. And in regard to my relationship with you, I will never give up, I will never lose my allegiance or duty to you, I will always desire you with expectation of victory in our relatationship, and I will always remain firm under suffering or misfortune without yielding...

Julia, I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you".

At the point that I told her "I loved her", she knew I was proposing because she and I did a study on the word Love. Saying "I Love You" is something that has truly been watered down in modern society. That statement is a statement of commitment. When we did our study on the word Love and I Love You, I developed the paragraph above as a biblical definition of what saying "I Love You" is really supposed to mean. Those 3 small words, consisting of just 8 letters, is supposed to mean everything that is stated in that paragraph above. She and I agreed that we would never tell each other that we loved each other unless we were ready to make that kind of commitment. In reading the definition above, a commitiment like that is the type of commitment you make to someone when you're getting married. Therefore, she knew I wouldn't say those words until the day I was proposing to her and I held true to that word. For the first time, I told her I loved her. While still talking to her on the phone, I then proceeded to walk towards her and she saw me. When she saw me, she began running towards me saying "YES, YES, YES", before I even asked her the question. She grabbed me and we hugged. I got down on one knee and pulled out the ring and asked, "Julia, would you be my wife". Then she said (for the fourth time), yes. :) Then we went to get our engagement photos done. Her roommate was all dressed up with nowhere to go. I thanked her for everything she did to make things special for Julia.

God Bless you all. Tonie and Tony, my prayers are with you guys. Blue love to all of you and I hope to see a lot of you in November. Later

Breona,

Some words of encouragement for your friend. I was in a similar situation when I auditioned. I was scheduled to PCS at the end of March, and when I was selected to go to WW suddenly my nice comfortable 2 weeks of time to outprocess was cut down to 3 days. It wasn't fun, but I finished everything that I could before I had to leave for WW. After WW was over I flew back to Misawa, and had literally 1 day to do all of my final outprocessing. The next day I flew to my new base, and I found out I made the team my first day of inprocessing. So I inprocessed, and outprocessed for TDY at the same time. It was an extremely busy week, but I got it done.

Tell your friend not to let something like a PCS stop her from auditioning for what could be the most exciting year of her life. Where there's a will there's a way!

In general, you should encourage anyone with a serious interest in the program to apply for Worldwide. Every year the Air Force Entertainment staff makes extraordinary efforts to get the contestants they want for TIB freed up to be on the team and if individual attention is required, they are prepared to engage as required.

Go out...find the talent...get them to apply...and let the staff sort out the details -- love ya Terri ;)

Kelly Boyce...I checked out your website and downloaded your clips. One word...ridiculous! I'd be more proud if I wasn't so jealous. Exceptional all around...great site (graphics and photos) and awesome tracks. I really like the Angel song, but then I am always a sucker for ballads. I hope to see you gain a lot of exposure because you are certainly worth listening to.

Glo...Hello???? Lorna...married...huh????? We need details sweetums!

(too many ellipses I know...it's a phase...I'll get over it)

Brothers and Sisters

I wanna to share good news. The IMAGE Records team proposed our showcase to the club and they area pscyched about it. As I said before, I get to produce my first show....I'm so excited and so nervous at the same time. It's four acts, two country and two R&B. we wanted to bring diversity to the stage. We open the show with a slammin female traditional country vocalist, followed by Ms Ashley Osborn with her riveting blend of country and pop....a short intermission...then our pop/r&B female vocalist...the Christina Aguilera of Tokyo and then myself.....

I couldn't believe how easy it was....I went it there confident and gave them our press kit and explained my requirements in a fashion where they felt we were doing them a favor.

The shows are almost built now. We're putting together one more performers set but other than that we'll be hitting rehearsals 4 nights per week for the next month and our musical director will be taking the band. in about a month we'll all get back together and start making the songs come to life....ya'll know what i mean, making the alterations and such.....ed jones style.....LOL....

we've got LUX-G, a japanese fashion magazine and reps from Sony/BMG Japan on the special invite list.

we'll be measuring the stage soon to see what kind of VPs we can add.

so once again...CHIEF....thank you, plain and simple....I'm forever endebted.

Hope to see you guys at WW this year........

Someone who cared deeply for me sent me this email and I wanted to share it with others I cared for as well, my blue family....I know it's "lengthy", but worth reading. Here goes:

> This was a warning posted by a resident to those opening
>their homes to strangers. This is also a good read, because it explains the violence going on right now is not by ordinary citizens...
>
>264. Let us not forget safety.. by russadams, 9/1/05
>22:42 ET People - Those of you who are offering food, clothing,
>supplies, transportation, services, etc., to help us New Orleanians and our friends from Mississippi and Alabama in our time of great need. You are absolute ANGELS and if it weren't for people like you, this would not be a world worth living in - especially with things like this Hurricane Katrina, the Asian Tsunami, 9/11, etc.) going on. HOWEVER -
>Those of you offering shelter in your homes really, most sincerely need to think about what you're doing. Please allow me to explain.
New Orleans is one of the most dangerous cities in the world. This is not a myth, it is a fact. We habitually have among the highest rates of murder, rape, child-molestation, kidnapping, armed-robbery and drug related offenses in the country. What those numbers do not take into consideration is that all of these things happen in several relatively small areas, rather than one big area that is the "wrong side of the tracks". These numbers also don't consider that many, MANY of our murders are not counted as "unknown but unnatural causes" cases are not ruled as homicides much of the time, and that the criminals are not only in the City of New Orleans proper, but in small areas all over the metro-region. This is not to mention the number of potential murder victims that do not die in the end, because Charity Hospital has the single best trauma teams in the world.
> We have criminals on our streets that are worse than most places have on death row.
> We have a great Mayor, a decent City Council and a passable Police Chief, or we did, but this was the first time in many, MANY years that this was the case. New Orleans has been far too corrupt to care about crime, and our former Police Chief "fudged" the murder numbers for years in order to show "progress" (your welcome Atlanta!), as was shown by Washington D.C. and New Orleans both becoming "Murder Capital of the Nation the first year after Mr. Pennington moved on.
> I am a resident of New Orleans - a newly homeless resident - and I would seriously question to sanity (not the charity - just the sanity) of anyone who would take in someone to live with them and their children, even for one night, even in this sort of circumstance, unless they knew the person.
> Let us not forget that our Police Department and Judiciary have been under Federal investigation very recently, tons of our officers and deputies have been fired and arrested for drug-dealing, drug trafficking, "losing" evidence, fixing trials, etc. We currently have at least 4 former NOPD Officers in prison at Angola (including at least one on death row) for murder,
> I have heard from reliable sources (not FOX News - I said reliable), that the Orleans Parish Prison "lost" some of its inmates in the evacuation process, that St. Bernard and Plaquemines Parish Prisons simply let their prisoners go when the water got too high, and that a treatment facility for sex offenders simply opened their doors and let their patients out.
> This is in addition to every half-way house, local township jail, rehab center and psychiatric hospital letting their patients/prisoners go free before, during and after the storm.
> Some of these people are still in New Orleans, looting stores and shooting at rescue workers... But many, many more of them are sitting in shelters across the region as we speak.
> Everyone deserves a chance and everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt - But each person MUST put the safety of themselves and their families first.
> PLEASE - give (supplies, money, time, blood, etc.) to shelters, to the Red Cross, to the Salvation Army, to Church organizations, etc., but DO NOT take anyone into your home that you do not know.
> The nice New Orleans couple you take in tonight may very well have been a murderer and drug-dealing crackhead yesterday - and that little baby they have may very well be stolen.
> The jails and prisons who have graciously accepted some of our criminals are finding out that they are NOT prepared for these type of violent offenders, so your family certainly is not prepared for them!
> Also, in New Orleans, as with anywhere I would imagine, you cannot tell a violent thug by the color of their skin or the clothes they wear or their manner of speech. Some of the most horrifically violent people I have ever dealt with or heard about (I'm in the legal profession) were little white boys and middle aged white women.
> No offense to all of you wonderful and generous people, but please - let's be both giving and rational at the same time.
>
> --
> Staci

**I know we ALL get caught in the spirit of making a difference and compassion toward others, but I just wanted to remind everyone that although God is CONTINUOUSLY working MIRACLES...the devil has not stopped working his evil. Be careful.
May God CONTINUE blessing each of you!

Blue unto others greetings,

Tan (et al. Blue)

WIse post! Sad...but also very true re: your LA stats. In a word, we must balance our generosity with extreme CAUTION and forethought. Glad you said it 4 all 2 see. Only a true Blue insider like yourself can reflect as such on your own town and reveal/convey such grim realities to us...for our own protection.

Thanks for doing that and 4 keepin' it REAL 4 us all. Although its upsetting to read, especially now while nature's wounds are still open and not even close to being healed, but....nonetheless it had 2 be said yall! Sometimes the truth hurts. But we cannot stand by idly and allow the victim-helpers to become victims themselves!

We all saw some of that taking in the last big tragedy only 5 years ago but in a different guise. It is truly unfortunate that with every great diaster (natural or manmade) there wilbl always be an element among us "regular citizens" as you put it, who will try to exploit that unfortunate situation for their own gain!(thankfully usually only small %) Rascals and rogues! But this is all par for the course. And it will teach us (hopefully) how to prepare and how to protect ourselves in future situations. For as Confuscious says..."There cans be no success without proper preparation!"

Keywords: Caution, Prudence, Common sense, careful generosity, self-preservation. I would add one small thing to your good advice, and that is give what you can... IF you can! And 4 those regular citizens who can't give much, give thanks for what you have and prayers for those who have even LESS now!

Man makes plans...but sadly "the Devil fools with the best laid plans" And mother nature does not differentiate between those who have a little, and those who have none.

But finally, we must remember to ask ourselves...how was this situation that you speak of allowed to become so corrupt and poor, if we truly are "our brothers (and sisters) keepers"????...natural disasters aside. Blame is not the answer... we must all search within and speak out when we can. The time has now come to bridge this. Growing gap. That's what made America great 50 years ago to begin with! We cannot afford to slide back to the dark ages every time nature coughs or sneezes!

Think it over yall! Blue luv and peace to everyone who DARES to CARE! God help they who help themselves Tan. Good man, that Tan!

This is Wil Johnson, TIB 2000. I wanted to say hello to all and to reach back out to my family. I miss all of you. I moved to the Chicagoland area. Any priors in the area that want to keep in touch. Hit me up with an e-mail.
I miss you TIB 2000. I was working out in the gym and I was about to give up on the treadmill, then I heard, "This Will Be!". After hearing that, I received new energy and I was able to keep on going. Thanks a lot again to Mr. Edwards for making this all possible. Thank you TIB 2000 for just being there and keeping me encouraged. I still think of you all often. Hit me with an e-mail any time and we'll catch up.
Marlon, Arturo, Shane, Amber, Paige, and Jeremy, I would love to hear from you all again.
Lots of Blue love.
Best wishes to current and future teams. Represent!

Minor corrections re: previous post,

My apologies to "Mrs. Tan" (LaTanza) for the gender mixup, and for thinking that she was from New Orleans.

Points well-taken nevertheless. Thanks for the FYI Blue. -----BB G

But seriously, instead of mourning we should all celebrate. It is obvious that she did something right all these years for Mr Walker to always be smiling and being the man that we know he is, I know his inspirational spirit will continue to bless us. In the mean time your family is here for you, but I'm sure you know this already. We love you, Mr. Walker. God bless!!!!!!

Hello Blue Family!!

Last night I went to my first Air Force Ball and got to wear my mess dress!! I was a DD so I got to go for free, and I even got to do the electric slide with the base commander.

I'm also working on buying a house. A guy dropped the price on a house that I liked by 15,000 so I put in my offer and it was accepted. I'll probably close the middle of October.

I can't wait to see everyone at World Wide, especially the team! I looked at pictures on the web site and they look absolutely beautiful.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of my blue brothers and sisters and I am both happy and proud to be a part of such a wonderful family.

Since you brought it up, Courtney, I will add my words of wisdom and experience (gee I feel old saying that):

While assigned to a Marine Corps base for a joint school several years ago, I wore my TIB mess dress to an annual Marine Corps Ball. Towards the end of the night, I bent over to remove tickets that where laying on the dance floor so niether I nor my date would slip on them. Right about when I reached the tickets, I felt the horrific sensation of my pants splitting. Now we're not just talking about a minor tear of the seam...we're talking about completely opening up from the bottom of the zipper to the back waistband. I quickly stood up and attempted to cover my backside while trying to discreetly tell my date that it was time to make a hasty exit. She didn't really believe me (and I had no intention of giving her a better view) but we started for the door to leave anyway. Halfway there, I hear "Burch...come here!" It was the commander of my school yelling at me to come over and introduce my date to him. I tried to get out of that one, but had to make the introduction anyway...and I got to meet his parents at the same time. I finally told him that I had to go and would explain later and we made it out of the ballroom. Of course we had to ride up two stories of an escalator...and of course it had to have glass sides, but as far as I know, no one seemed to notice. I must take credit for the best planned choice of underwear I have ever made--navy blue boxer briefs. I can't say I was so lucky when I performed an entire Motown set of one of our shows with my fly open (black pants and white briefs--yikes!). So the moral of this story is...make sure you are careful in your TIB mess dresses. Most of them have been machine washed many times and have been worn potentially more than a hundred times. Those things were designed to be dry clean only with expected wear of 2-3 times a year. But the biggest lesson...always wear matching underwear. The old addage of always wearing clean underwear in case you get hit by a bus doesn't quite cover it if you survive the hit and have to live with everyone checking you out in tighty-whiteys, clean or not.

So there you have it...I just worked in a valuable life lesson about underwear on the Priors Bulletin Board...while wearing socially acceptable undies I might add. Obviously I have no shame.

Chris

I just received information from Percy Lewis on arrangements for Jim's wife. Ceremony and visitation will be held at Dodd Chapel on Fort Sam on 23 Sep- visitation is from 11-12. Ceremony is at 12:45- burial will proceed at around 1:30 at the Fort Sam cemetery—flowers can be sent to the chapel, the phone number is 221-5010, but space is limited there and at the burial site. If you want to send flowers or a donation you may also send to his home address: 17026 Lands Wake, San Antonio TX 78247 or here at the agency. Either myself or Percy will make sure to get to him. The agency address is: 10100 Reunion Place, Ste 403, San Antonio TX 78216

Greetings from Ohio (The Heart Of It All),
You know you are truly aging when you look on the bulletin board and don't recognize any of the names on it. Stan are you out there? Tedd? Luis? Karl? Anyone from the good ol' days? "Prior to me".....oh no....now I am plagerizing....

Still in Ohio. Still managing a retail store. Still having tour dreams. Do they ever really leave us? Am I going insane? Don't you answer that Stan. At least I have hair. Just getting grey around the edges.

Bob-great finally meeting you at the 50th. You have done a fantastic job with what will probably be your legacy to Tops in Blue. The best to you as you pursue other endeavors.

Tedd- How the heck are ya?

Animal- Thank you for returning the album.

Looking forward to seeing the tour when it comes to Dayton.

All my best:

Hello everyone!

Tonie - I don't check the board very much - so I'm sorry I didn't catch this sooner. If you still need help - my roommate is deployed to New Orleans and goes out everyday on recon missions and is able to pretty much get anywhere at anytime. Please let me know if there is ANYTHING you need.

Also - though my roommate's family are all alive - they lost everything and have no place to go while we figure out how and where to rebuild (they did not have the money for flood insurance - so they will have to take what FEMA is giving). SO - if anyone in the Baton Rouge/New Orleans area - or the California area have or know of a place they may be able to live for a few months while they get back on their feet I would greatly appreciate your help!!

And - though I don't check the board often - I am very grateful to Bob (and now Chris) for keeping this running. It is nice to know there is always a way to get and keep in touch.

Forever Blue.

I am taking a class at my church called "Just Faith" - It is a year long class about finding your political voice in the fight against poverty. Basically how to be a compassionate christian fighting for justice. It is AMAZING!!

If you're interested in the course - being a part of one or starting one - let me know and I can put you in touch with the right folks.

Hey, back again. I accidentally hit send on that last one. That's okay, this is a totally unrelated topic.
Eric and I ran in the Air Force Marathon here at Wright Patt on Saturday. I ran the half-marathon and he ran his first full marathon. The weather was perfect, it was nice and cool the whole way. Eric finished in under four hours which is awesome for his first time, especially if you knew how much he trained! I ran the whole way in my half-marathon, which was all that I wanted to do this time. On a side note Eric, there was not only one big hill!!! I think around hill number six or seven I was muttering under my breath that you'd better run fast once the race was over. Anyway, I guess I'll check the course out myself next time. At least you had to run twice as many hills as I did... :)
Well, that's it. Looking forward to the show in March. Miss you guys and love you all.

Mindy

The death of Bert Walker comes after an illness that has lasted for many years. Jimmy and Bert have had to deal with all of the medical expenses with little to no help from any institutions. Her untimely death has placed not only physical, mental, and emotional hardship on the Walker family but a financial burden as well. Jimmy has made immeasurable contributions to TIB since the 1970's. It is time for the TIB family to step it up and help one of our own once again. Donations may be made to the Faith Fund and mailed to Faith Fund c/o of Terri Smith, 10100 Reunion Place, Ste 403, San Antonio TX 78216.

I called Star, Alex and Corey...no one heard from you. I know there's no way to call you, but I wanna connect with you before you head out to Germany. You and your family are deifnitely in my prayers, and don't forget God is awesome and a provider, so don't fret! I'm getting out of here by the first or second week in October, so if you can try to reach me then or leave a message on myspace.com or with one of the priors. I love you GIRL! You know that. Just really been worried!

Hey everyone, I love ya'll!

Re: Art Blakey. I have an even BETTER question.....if anyone does NOT know who Art Blakey is reading this site, then hit me too! Specially the drummers! I know Matt Dechant does....cause I gave him the bible of drumming titled "Drumming men". Art was also a good bandleader too. Just ask Branford Marsalis about that!

out.....of the clear Blue! G-Train (Dennis Chambers wannabe! LOL)

I am in Europe at the moment, however I have requested that any donations desiring to be made to Faith Sullivan, be provided through the "Faith Fund" to ensure the integrity of the donations. This request has been made in the past and numerous priors again are reporting direct request from Faith for donations which is invalid.

Thanks walt! Nice to know people think about the Drummers every once in a while. And I know who Art Blakey is.

That Tony Royster Jr. video is pretty old, I think he wass 12 years old there, but now he's like 19 or 20.. Man he's probably a SICK drummer now. He did a Clinic tour with Mike Portnoy recently, wish I was in driving distance to one of their stops.

Thanks again for the book Gerry!

Helloooo Blue! Yes, this is officially my second time on the board since tour. So listen up!! I've started my own business here in Charlotte and it's growing faster than I can handle! I'm looking for some very motivated people to help me expand and earn $30-$60,000 within 6 to 18 months. Oh yeah, that's predictable income. And what's even better is that it can be done in your spare time. So if you have a lot of ambition, are good for your word and are teachable and have 5-15 hours a week of spare time, give me a holla.

Hey blue,

My apartment was broken into last night. And they took a bunch of my stuff including my laptop. I'm not really worried about the possesions because i have renters insurance but, since they took my laptop, all of my memories are gone too, including pictures of tour. If anyone from '04 has the time, could I get a copy of some pictures? I promise I'll put it on a disc this time.

Thanks In Advance,

Chris

Hi Family,

All this drummer stuff got me thinkin'

Q: What does it mean when a drummer drools out of both sudes of his mouth?

A: The stage is level!

I'm out here before I get fined!...(again)

Stan my man,

GOOD ONE!!! LOL! Were you a comedian on tour, or what? I tell ya what...we timekeepers get "no respect" (as Rockin, Rodney D. use to say)

I could modify that joke and make it even funnier re: gawking, but...I won't EVEN go there EITHER! Because we band members never did that anyway, and because I can't afford the fines either! (Laughs)

By the way, thanks to our high-steppin' "hornie-horns", my stages were never really level...no matter how good the techs set them up. So the sliva glands were flowing on/out of both sides due to the motion of the ocean (on stage) no matter what! But mine were mostly active on da bus...Gus! Where everybody could see it razz me about it. I tried to tell 'em it was for shinin' my boots 'n all ("spit-shine") but my team wasn't butin' it! LOL!

P.S. '81 tour aye! I thought I was gettin' long in the tooth (older).--- G-whiz!

One word for TIB 05...WOW!!! They were phenomenal!! I loved the Ritz theme and all of the songs. They seemed to glow on the stage(kudos to the tech crew)! I had a chance to talk to them afterwards and all is well with them. I am so glad that all of them are healthy and still going strong. Best of luck to the rest of the 05 tour and hope to see you all in Nov at WW.

Many prayers to you,

Breona

Jimmy, our prayers are with you and your family; you've been my mentor since 1973 (Eglin AFB), when you took me under your wing and explained to me what it meant and took to be successful in TIB other adventures. I owe a lot of my success to you. I'll be there for you as best I can. You're pure TIB.

Jose

Bob: Thanks for creating and leaving behind the fabulous TIB Prior's web site. I've already expressed to you my thoughts, but I again wanted you to know that there aren't enough words to express the value of your unselfish efforts to the TIB family.

Chris: I applaud you for taking on the site--thanks.

Jose

Hey Blue...

I'm auditioning for the musical Hairspray on Saturday...as a dancer and a singer....two different auditions. I've been in Las Vegas for 2 years trying to get into a show and this is one muscial that I *know* is for me. Keep me in your thoughts this Saturday! I could use the boost of confidence and encouragement!

Thank you and hope to see as many of you as possible at world wide in November in San Antonio!!!

Love,
~Mel

Look at that. :) Send me an email with how you want me to get them to you bro... I'm sorry to hear about your loss, but I'm glad you're alright man.
