Greetings All from the Motor City,

This place is a mad house here in Detroit. What a rush! Kind of reminds me of the old World Wide Talent Contest. If there are any priors coming to the Super Bowl this week, look me up. My info is on the priors address page.

Francine, can you add me to the Email reunion? Thanks

Mac, you said it, I haven't seen anyone do a Michael Jackson routine better than Daryl Harris with the exception of maybe Mike himself.

Shout outs to all past, present and future TIB and AFE.

Hello all. My name is Colleen Lemorie. My husband is SrA Michael Lemorie who has been picked to sing for the 2006 tour. He's in Texas now, and I feel a million miles away from this great venture. I was hoping that popping in here and saying hi would help me to feel more connected to Mike's fabulous opportunity.

So, hi. What's up?

Colleen- It does get really hard with a loved one on the road. But you have to remember it is hard for them as well the best advice I can give is to stay involved. He will want and need to tell you about all the things going on good and bad. Also see him as often as you can I went to 23 different show and participated in the whole process believe me it helps and sometimes thats the only time you have. Please don't hesitate to e-mail me or call at (405)213-0276 Like I said it will be hard but I know I am so proud to say I am the wife of a TIB prior.

Hi all! Saw the movie Beyond the Sea, and I thought I'd share you the lyrics to one of the last songs that was sung:
Off comes the makeup,
Off comes the clown's disguise
The curtain's falling, the music softly dies
But I hope you're smiling as your filing out the door
As they say in this biz that's all there is,
There isn't any more
We've shared our moment
And as the moment ends
I've got a funny feeling we're parting now as friends
Your cheers and laughter will linger after they've torn down these dusty walls
If I had this to do again
I would spend it with you again...
People say I was made for this
Nothing else would I trade for this and just think I get paid for this ..
Good night Ladies and gentlemen and God love you....
2004-Hope all is well!
2005-It's almost done! I'll see y'all at Randolph in a couple of weeks! Jen will see you in ABQ!
2006-Welcome to staging! I'll stop by and say hi.
Everyone-hope the year is going well!

Hey Blue
OKay, maybe I'm just a purist but the Rolling Stones doing the Superbowl halftime is like Garth Brooks doing a halftime show at the World Cricket Championships. Its an American sport, put some American icons up on the stage - not some dusty, 60-year old British guys! Sorry, Stones fans.
If I were in charge of picking the entertainment, KISS would have been up there singing "Detroit Rock City" in full makeup, segue to Madonna and Aretha doing Madonna's "Respect Yourself", and wrap it up with Kid Rock and Eminem in a duet of KR's "American Badass". Now THAT would have been a crazy Superbowl halftime show, and a great tribute to the city itself.

Of course, KISS, Madonna, Aretha, Kid Rock, and Eminem are just the Plan B if we couldn't get Tops in Blue to play the gig. :)

Love ya Blue

--So, when is the next TIB Superbowl Halftime Chief?

I wasn’t a big fan of last years show either, but would still rather see Sir Paul doing anything (including having a wardrobe malfunction) than what I saw yesterday. :-)

I just want to age with grace... not clinging to things of the past, my youth, my BLUE days, "my prime," the transient, like the physical, and focus on things which can’t be taken away. Longfellow said "Age is opportunity NO LESS than youth itself, though in another dress..." I think it’s just more difficult for some than others, to "change their dress."

I am sorry to say, I thought the show was pretty bad. I respect their abilities and age and drive and all that stuff...But that guitar sound was awful and very sloppy. Just because you are old doesn't mean you lose your technical ability. I saw Stephane Grappelli in his wheelchair in his 90's and put on a great show. JMHO. Sorry,

Didn't like the Stones show either -- One thing though Paul, some of the blank spots in the vocals were edited lyrics that were deleted because they were risque, or curse words. The Super Bowl was broadcast on a 5 second delay after the 'wardrobe malfunction.' But you're right about the pocket, the two guitar players were never with each other or the drums, who wasn't with the bass, and Mick was in his own world. Maybe they used the same wireless monitors we used in '02... :) {I know our band loved them}

Kellee: I never thought of that combination. Madonna and Aretha...interesting...but you're right, Motor City tribute would've been nice.

So often the the term "entertainer" gets misused. For some strange reason now days just because you make 6-7 figures a year singing, dancing, playing and such you automatically get the job title of "entertainer". Man, I remember back in the day when being entertaining made you an entertainer. Times they are a-changin'!!!
But yes, congrats to the "Kidney Stones" for not falling out on stage. They've got one up on Jamell in that department.

Walt: Correction, it's sequins as opposed to the forever misspelled and mispronounced "sequence". But then again, leave it to a vocalist to make a correction like that.

Final Superbowl Halftime Thoughts...

A sixty year old guy singing about "he can't get no satisfaction" is no longer sexy, its downright creepy. And speaking of creepy, Keith Richards looks like an exceptionally talented taxidermist stuffed him with a guitar in his hand so they could lean him up onstage and no one would notice he's been dead for about five years. (Then again, alcohol is a preservative and those guys drank so much they probably aren't even biodegradable anymore).

2007 Superbowl Halftime Show Finalists (the show theme is Geriatrics Guarantee No Gratuitous Grabbing):

Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young
The Monkees
The Bee Gees (or Bee Gee, since two died...three if you count Andy)

The most impressive thing to me about Paris Bennett's AI performance (next to her talent of course) was her humility! The girl has manners and is obviously appreciative of the opportunity. What a concept! Just proves that if you have that kind of real talent, there's no need for a chip on the shoulder. Refreshing to see.

Your help is greatly appreciated. I'm just so excited to be going!!! A big THANK YOU to TIB 2005 for the extra push. I wish you the best in the remainder of your tour and look forward to seeing you at the finish line. :)

God bless,

True, you might be the worlds greatest performer, but there's always the mic you have to sing into (what?), and wardrobe you have to wear (gasp!), and platforms you have to stand on (whoa!), and the lights you are lit by (where?), and the drivers to get you there (pothole!)...

Take care of your Techs! They have to audition as well, and are PART of the Team...not just filling a supporting role.

Oh, and '03 can attest to this one... DO NOT let the Team watch any of the "Final Destination" movies (especially II) on the bus... they bring bad juju!

Right Josh? I still think it was all your fault! We watched "FDII" on a long road trip and within hours of each other, we blew tires on Stagecoach AND the Music Box...out in the middle of nowhere, on a deserted highway (felt like it at least) and we were freaked out and knew the next logging truck that came along had our names on it! (in the middle of Oklahoma or where ever? unlikely!)

She went out on the road singing to raise money for her husband's speaking tours and cause. Impressive woman in many ways. Did her thing back when it wan't too cool or PC to stick out. Especially if you were a woman. And she did'nt need a wardrobe" malfunction" to make HER point either! Even though I'm not black, I can still respect that!

Sorries for ramblin' (again)Maj. Burch. et al Important pertinent stuff methinks.

Kahlil, I believe Bernie and Col. Smith toured in 1979 together.

That was my first year witnessing the AFE/TIB experience.

Francine you are so crazy..."Victor's Secret"

Oh, for the one who said the crowd was into the Stones halftime show, they actually recruited groups of people to practice and hype up the show...it was all staged...

Take care...

I know how those gigs work, I was just saying they looked like they were having a good time, no matter what was going on or how much Geritol was being passed out.

Kellee: I'll still think The Monkees are extremely sexy and HOT even in their 90's!!! I love me some Davy, Peter, Mickey, and even the estranged Mike.

As for AI5's Paris: I am her biggest fan...uh, but the lineage aspect, I think is unfair to the "undiscovered" talent that has no opportunity but AI to be discovered... But, that's only my opinion and take on it.

As for The Rolling Stones...I had to turn the channel (and I only turned it on for the Half time show).

In my opinion, if you play the same song for almost 40 years, you should be able to remember the words. I do not know for sure, that is only a guess. 40 years should be just enough rehearsal time for the average professional.
Anyone else think so?

Name/brand recognition is still stronger than current abilities technicalities like remembering those pesky lyrics from the last millemium! Laughs.

Personally, I'd like to see Stevie and Sir Elton trading 8's on two grand pianos in a tribute/musical montage to say Ray Charles, Lou Rawls, Luther Vandross, and Johhny Cash! Not sure who the vocalists would be to cover those parts, but I know Stevie can handle Ray's stuff, but I'm not sure about Elton handling Johny's...but yall can figure that one out!

Something along the lines of that Marvin Gaye/Motown tribute I saw a few years back(?) on Live at the Apollo(?) or one of those shows! Anybody remember that? MAN, was that powerful or what? Anybody remember thae guys name who sang Marvin's "What's goin' on"??? Great stuff.

Just an idea yall!

Hello to all! Although, this message is mostly for Ed Jones.
I said I would give you the info when I had it:
I will be singing in the All State Chior (community college) in San Antonio on Saturday, the 18th at 3pm. I don't know exactly where it is going to be, my schedule says Convention Center, but I have no idea if there is more than one. I know you are busy, so I will try not to be too heartbroken if you can't make it. ;)

If anyone is interested, please give me a call, I should have more infomation once the date is closer. 509-869-7798 I will be in San Antonio the 15th-18th, but I don't think I will have much free time. I would be great to see some friendly faces, although I know how busy everyone is.

And yes, 2003, I am still pretending to be vocalist! (my major is piano)

Blue Love,
~Lety

p.s. Thank you Keesha!!!

Attention "prior" guitarists/vocalists in the Central Coast (Vandenberg AFB area):

If you're interested in gigging regularly, there will be a vacancy in the band "Soulamente" (R&B, Latin, classic soul) in July of 2006. I will be PCSing to Sacramento. Please contact me with your qualifications or inquiries and I'll forward it on to the band manager. Regards and many respects to all TIB past, present, and future! Just wanted to drop a line and say hello. I don't get much time to post anything or even read most of the time but I hope everyone is doing well and carrying on their stories of being BLUE. I know it had helped me in many ways since I left tour. I graduat in May with a Bachelors in Architectural design and I have since opened a Design Firm in Nashville TN. I am planning a move to the Big Apple in August and could really use any help in finding a place to live in a decent area of town. If you have any suggestions please give drop me line. I would love to meet some of the NYC priors when I visit in March.

Take care and best wishes to everyone

Greetings Blue,

I was asked for some assistance and moral (and morale)support by one of our current. Trainees down at the staginghood. Apparently our brave new hardworking and highly-motivated drummer's wife has had a very unfortunate and traumatic incident (which I cannot go into here), and she is in a pretty bad way (mentally tore up!!) over it. She's okay physically, from what I was told, but... mentally....that's another issue alltogether (for you all to decide).

In any case, would yall PLEASE kindly take a brief moment to get involved (again) for me here like you all did in the Katrina thing???? The man has a LOT on his plate right now in the early weeks of staging, and its gonna be hard for him to focus on the show and take care of biz (emotionally) with his wife at the same time, over the phone all alone! Get me? Helllooooo TIB wives, mothers, female priors et al! And you males may want ta shoot larry a "hello bro, is everything okay?"
too for me. PLEASE!!!! Thank you Blue peeps!
So "prayers" are definitely in order (requested by the party concerned) here, although I personally suggest a little more in the way of a call or e-mail show of support to his lovely wife and him as well!

This IS VERY serious yall! Those of you who I e-mailed know by now what's up! So don't be afraid to get involved because the man reached out to me and he is countin' on me and YOU to guide him through! Hear? Don't let him down! Show your support and the power of the BLUE FORCE!

His wife's name is Sara, and the numbers are (with permission from Sra Frey):
Home: (707) 365-8180
Mobile: (707) 437-3358
E-mail: haileysmama05@aol.com

Larry's cell is (707) 688-9929 be mindful that he is in staging so call in the evenings only, or his e-mail is:

HaileysDad2005@aol.com

Thanks Blue! Gots ta help my drummin' peeps when they call on me! Time ta give back...yet again! Little things like a call or e-mail DO HELP!!! Imagine if it was your wife!

Yoda G out (like Underdog when Pretty Polly was is distress!) THANKS BLUE...LUUUV U ALL!

After spending lots of late nights in front of my computer (geez I wish I had a life), I am ready to launch 2 new additions to the website.

You may have already noticed the new home page. That's just graphics...all the same links are still there for you to use.

The first real addition is a Photo Album. Once you register, you can add as many photos as you would like and share them with the users of this site.

The second addition is a new Bulletin Board that provides a lot of advanced features not available on this site.

When you register, please use the same username for both sites. The instructions are at the top of each page. Please read carefully.

This bulletin board will remain active for a while longer, but will eventually be turned off -- please start using the new board ASAP.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Chris, I am confused on this new BB stuff. It's not simple to me or else I have to much going on to figure it out.I went to the link page above and kept getting a page that reads one line atop another and without instructions.

For those people who log in once a year will there be instructions for them too - because they will be a little shocked over the changes too.
Thanks,
Slightly frustrated

Before you throw in the towel, I would invite you to get on the board and just try it out. If you screw up and post something wrong, no harm done. Posting is pretty much the same as you here, you just have to decide where to put your post and then make only one or two clicks to get you there.

This new board is uses the most popular Bulletin Board engine, so it's the standard format for most of the bulletin boards on other internet sites.

You won't muck it up, so play around and if you have questions of even want me to walk you through it on the phone, just let me know.

Chris,
One quick question. Is there any particular reason why you're requiring folks to register to use the new BB?

I'm already registered but I fear the new site might scare a lot of people off simply because of it's complexity.

Just offering an opinion.

I am not yet requiring people to register in order to post to the new site. Several people have posted as guests and their posts will not be deleted. Eventually I will turn on the requirement for registration because it gives us security options that this board does not offer. Several times in the past, the future of the board was jeopardized by the anonymous postings of people with malicious agendas or by people posting under the guise of someone else. Registration will eliminate both of those options. Additionally, the new site very nicely keeps track of who is posting and from where. Finally, the new site is far easier for me to manage -- this site requires server level access and editing at that code level every time someone messes up or the board gets full. Now users can just delete or edit their own douple posts, and I can delete bad posts with the click of a button. I have already walked one prior through the registration process over the phone and he has successsfully posted on his own. It's not that complicated and if anyone needs help, email me and I will send you my number.

Chris

I agree, I think the new board is awesome. Way more organized.

Seriously after all we've been through. The songs we've learned, the places we've been to, the obstacles we've overcome during set up. If we can't figure out how to click a few extra buttons on the new board, we're in trouble.
